Glastonbury 5G -a FB letter

On Monday I decided that I would disconnect and stop trying to help those from Glastonbury community who are against the installation and operation of 5G in their town.
I had become a little despondent and disillusioned with the lack of ununified enthusiasm, communication and general interest in making something happen here that could make a difference. I was originally asked to help make this happen some time ago, so I set the plan in motion and I agreed to do it all for free of charge and I have been chipping away at it all the time. I have arranged good publicity for no to 5G in Glastonbury, drawn attention to the fact that it’s not wanted here, the news even made the national papers albeit a very small lineage. I have worked for the press for 27years and I have rallied a lot of support from journalists, TV, and various other key media platforms they have all written and published helpful articles for you and supported our campaign to stop 5G roll out in Glastonbury Town.
I have lobbied the local council, given awareness talks and even started a local and online petition to stop 5G in Glastonbury and I consider that I have been continuously proactive since I became involved. The only thing that is missing is the support from the community!!
I can’t do this for you on my own, this is about you and for you. It’s no good keep swopping American 5G YouTube video chats with each other, great for info, but do something with all this knowledge !!!
You have a newly elected council…
lobby your local councillor! Write to them, speak to them! Ask for a meeting
Tell them you don’t want 5G here!
You have to convince the very people who are going to allow 5G into your town not to do it… your council that you as a town elected. They are there to serve you and your needs and acknowledge your concerns…. use them to get what you want, or don’t want in this case.
I have been persuaded not to quit or resign, and stay with this project a little longer which I have agreed to do, but you as a community have to be more proactive and do your part too. Compared with other towns and cities I have worked with, I notice that in Glastonbury the focus and intention is spasmodic with poor communication, very thin interest apart from film swops, trivia and online infighting. The unified proactive element is sadly missing, it’s no good talking a good job… let’s do it!
The Glastonbury No 5G petition which has run for a few weeks now, is way under its target to be significant.
In other places it is way into the hundreds within days!!
I am again ready to address the council on the 14th May and I had hoped to present a good well signed petition representation of your interest and formally request that some of the councillors put the 5G subject matter on their agenda for a separate public meeting to discuss in depth and say what they are prepared to do.
Do you know that according to the stats, there have been more “shares” of the petition on Facebook than there have been signatures?????
Where are you all…. too busy???
Having issued hardcopy petitions for use in the High Street weeks ago, I have not seen one in use?
The answer is not “hold another meeting” or “watch another video” or be to busy to care or do another talk.
You have to lobby, harass, contact, annoy, talk, shout, speak to, write to the only people who can stop this! The Council and it’s servants, the councillors, who are there to serve you!
Demand that they take action against 5G on your behalf….
I apologise for my little rant and it is not my intention to offend anyone or be condescending or arrogant, but please help me to help you make this a 5G free town!
With love always Chris Baker
