Finland …. oulu.fi   First in 6G – 5Genesis.  After being a leader in Finland’s telecommunications research for more than two decades, University of Oulu has started Academy of Finland’s Flagship programme 6Genesis. The programme will provide intelligent digital applications and will develop the fundamental 6G competence needed for smart societies. Our future society will be increasingly digitised, hyper-connected and globally data-driven. Pub Sept 2018 Added 25 Sept 2018

business.carphonewarehouse.com 5G: what it means and why there will never be a 6G. (I do not understand the headline when compared with the body coy of the article. Ed.) but here it is in all its glory.  Pub Aug 2018 Added 22 Aug 2018

6ginternet.com  Internet with no line rental. Instead of using the legacy telephone infrastructure, much of it decades old, 6G uses state of the art wireless technology to send superfast broadband connectivity, through the air, direct to your house. 6G gives you excellent headline speeds (up to 40Mbps) and a great latency, giving a fantastic customer experience, particularly for gamers and heavy streamers. Upload speeds for the 6G product are also far superior to even high-speed Fibre competitors. This will become ever more important as our homes become technologically “smarter” (a practical example being CCTV you can remotely access) and also with online gaming culture continuing to evolve.

www.comsoc.org  Technology News What will 6G be. This newsfeed has spent a lot of virtual paper on the topic of 5G over the last year or so but now that the New Radio spec is released and we are beyond the trial stage and approaching deployment, we thought it was time to annoy all of you purists out there and start a discussion on 6G, or “what will 5G leave on the table?”.

itproportal.com    UK government already investing in 6G networks, before 5G exists
The UK missed out on becoming one of the first countries to embrace the new 4G LTE technology, allowing speeds of over 100Mbps on mobile devices. In order to not miss out on another major step, the UK government is actually investing two steps ahead in 6G, with a £15 million investment in quantum technology studies.  Quantum technology is the next step after fiber optics in terms of speed, but nobody knows what the actual power of quantum computing is right now. The £15 million investment is a first look into the new wave of science.

sites.ieee.org IEEE Future Directions. What?! 5G is not year yet and I am proposing to start talking about 6G? Well, as an excuse, let me say that I am not the only one, and talking about 6G is a way to demystify 5G.  It may also be appropriate to point out that someone believes there will never be a 6G (!) because if 5G is done properly it will be an open collection of technologies and systems that will simply grow over time.
